Plans for Berlin

I will be turning 23 years old this Saturday, January 28, 2017. This year, instead of celebrating my birthday with friends or random people to drink until memories of the evening fade; I decided to travel. I will be travelling to Berlin, Germany. This place has always been at the top of my list of places to visit. There is historical and cultural aspects of this city that are unlike any other place in the world. At least, that’s just from the images and clips I have seen. Although my time in Berlin will be brief, it will be a travel experience to be remembered for a long period of time.
Here is the list of things I would like to do and places I hope to see:
·       Explore Spree Park
  •    Abandoned amusement park
  •    East Berlin
  •    Fenced in, expect to climb
·       Topographie de Terrors
  •    Outdoor museum
  •    Chronological history of terror in Germany
·       Bernauer Strasse
  •    AKA Berlin Wall Memorial
  •    Outdoor Museum
·       East Side Gallery
  •    Outdoor museum
  •    1.5 km of the original wall painted w/ 106 murals
  •    “The kiss of death” – Brezhnev and Honecker kissing
·       Tempelhof
  •    Closed airport, used as park
  •    Open space for working out
  •    Skateboard here!
·       Stroll down Karl-Marx-Alle
  •    Grand boulevard – 89 meters wide, 2 km long
  •    Originates from GDR
  •    Same boulevard used for May Day Parade
·       Go Späti drinking
  •    Späti is German for ‘kiosk’
  •    Every corner of every street
  •    Some w/ tables and benches
  •    Cheap beer: 50 cents - half a liter
  • ·       Picnic in Bus 100 or 200
  •    Take this bus to see most of Berlin’s sites
  •    2.70 Euros
  •    Begin at start station to the end station
·       Basic Walking tour
  •    Start with Alexander Platz – Big TV tower
  •    Continye to the Museum Island
  •    Reach Unter Den Linden
  •    End of this is Brandenburger Tor
  •    Behind this is Reichstag the German Parliament
    •   Walk up, the glass dome is free, but SIGN UP FIRST
  •    On the left side is the “Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe”
    •   2711 concrete slabs of different heights
·       Tarantino’s Bar
  •    Dedicated to legendary director
  •    Weekend nights have djs with electronic music, dance until the sun rises
  •    Neighborhood: Mitte
·       Die Weinerei
  •    Cute wine bar
  •    Pay 2 euros to rent a glass and can drink as much win as they like
  •    When they leave they can pay as much or as little as they like in the tips jar
  •    Neighborhood: Mitte
·       Bar Tausend
  •    Dress to impress type of bar
  •    Wasabi Cocktail
  •    Neighborhood: Mitte
